A fascinating Universal Newsreel clip documenting mestizos from Oaxaca and indigenous people greeting president Avelardo Rodriguez and his wife. The narrator mispronouces the word "Oaxaca," which should really sound more like "Gua-ha-ka." The indigenous people are performing ancient Zapotec rituals, which include dancing for the celebration of the guelaguetza that takes place in the state of Oaxaca. The length of the clip does not undermine it's historical importance, in fact, its very existence makes it a constructive piece for further analysis on many fronts: cultural, social, ethnographic…
