Synopsis

This 1936 Austrian production is said to have been one of the last of the "emigre" films made in that country, so designated due to the creative participation of German artists fleeing Nazi tyranny. In the present instance, the director Herman Kosterlitz, scriptwriter Felix Joachimson, producer Joe Pasternak, musical director Hans Salter, star Franziska Gaal and supporting player Szőke Szakáll all escaped to the United States before the 1938 Anschluss that saw Austria incorporated into the Third Reich.
