Synopsis
Vic (Don Johnson) is a libidinous 18-year-old traversing the post-apocalyptic desert of 2024, in the company of his telepathic dog, Blood. When the pair encounter an underground community, the leader's daughter, Quilla Holmes (Susanne Benton), seduces Vic into their fold, separating him from Blood, who's left to survive on his own. But once Vic discovers he's been lured there solely for mechanized procreation, he realizes he's doomed unless he can escape and rejoin Blood.

There are a lot of coming-of-age stories, this is a coming-of-maturity story, or a coming-of-wisdom story. Vic, like all humans, bears in his bodily frame the indelible stamp of humanities lowly origins. We have reward systems that can be easily hijacked or exploited, especially if we are naive. Vic meets an underground society that has systematized the craving to engage in the physical acts of reproduction, and used them to advance their own ends. The screenplay is based on a story by Harlan Jay Ellison, who also wrote under the pen name Cordwainer Bird. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and died in LA (1934-2018). He is a New Waver pulp fiction writer and his approach is full of stereotypes. His work was controversial. We are taken to a 2024 after WWIV. (Yes, IV, not "just" III.) The hero is seduced and finds out the "community" he is led to is a weird place, where people have "white face" and after he impregnates many women (50?) he will be killed.
