Synopsis
The historic, original, live airing of what would become an annual Christmas tradition throughout the 1950s, this opera tells the story of Amahl, a crippled shepherd boy, and his destitute mother, who provide temporary shelter to three men who are following a star to the newly-born Christ child.

So interesting to hear about Charles Polacheck. I agree this production, made 3 years before I was born, is amazing. I just looked for it because I wanted to suggest to my three sisters, ages 69, 74 and 76 that we each watch it and then have a zoom singalong to memorialize the many years we watched this and sang with it. We loved it, we were silly with it, we cried as Amahl headed off with the three wise men. It is one of my happiest memories.
