Synopsis
Jerry Cummings, a mining engineer, has pledged a large diamond on a short-term note to a pair of crooked loan sharks, Crone and Jan Jaffin, and heads for Mexico. His daughter Betsy, posing as a jewel thief called Mary Layton, is working to keep the crooks from absconding with the jewel, and her efforts are hindered greatly by an artist, Jimmy Baxter, who thinks she is a crook and Crone and Jaffin the good guys.

Bad acting, impossible plot, bare-bones production values and weak direction - but if you like whacky fist fights and cheating at checkers, you'll enjoy this primitive little romp. Against all odds, this one really snuck on me. Stars Herman Brix and Joan Barclay who unaccountably still managed to get film roles after this one. Fuzzy Knight shows up for unneeded comedy relief. Missing frames and a brief audio fadeout aren't much of a problem. The image quality is okay. CAST NOTE: Herman Brix (a.k.a. Bruce Bennett) had a long and undistinguished film and television career, which didn't end…

Unlike the previous Post, I didn't think this was ALL that bad. Yes, it's primitive, but it's interesting to see what they could do with NO BUDGET ! I lived in California many years ago, and in the exterior shots it's very interesting to see how undeveloped some of that land was...way before I ever got there. Too, many forget the Herman Brix/Bruce Bennett played a pivotal role in the Classic "Treasure Of Sierra Madre". It's also interesting, if you're a car buff like myself, that you see two cool convertibles that today would be worth six-figures each: a Caddy-based LaSalle, and, a Packard !…
