Imagine the money the U.S. auto industry was pulling in in 1956 that it could afford a half-hour, colour, wide-screen industrial picture it made available free to community groups. 300 prints were struck just for meetings of the NSPE during National Engineers Week in Feb. 1957. This was pawned off on people as a Salute to Engineers, not a car commercial, and it fits the bill very well. I lost track of the number of panorama shots taken from planes or helicopters. They are impressive. Sam Benavide outdoes himself with his intricate score, which ends with a chorus and a shot of Mount Rushmore.…

Funded in part by Chevrolet, but not neccesarily over-auto focused, the film focuses on the many ways engineers help us in our way of life.
