Synopsis
Forty years ago on July 15, 1975, a Russian Soyuz spacecraft and an American Apollo spacecraft lifted off from their respective launch sites in Baikonur, Kazakhstan, and the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to send cosmonauts Alexey Leonov and Valery Kubasov and astronauts Tom Stafford, Vance Brand and Deke Slayton on a landmark mission to linkup their vehicles for the first time.
