Are Manners Important? (1954)

Pretty good manners film featuring Mickey, a slightly rude, but nothing terribly uncontrollable child who does horrid things like running into girls, interfering in football games, and playing the tv too loud. Mickey wishes there were no rules at all, and sure enough, this goes into dream land where Mickey is the president and has enacted a no rules policy. This film certainly is refreshing in the terms of telling us that Mickey won't be perfect (which would upset the people at Centron no doubt) and offers some, but not all the solutions.

but when she came up later to tell him that he had been rude to her guest she called her visitor Mrs. Morris. You would think in a 10 minute film the folks at Encyclopedia Brittanica could have kept their characters straight. And it's kind of silly for an encyclopedia company to be promoting manners anyway. I sold encyclopedias door to door as one of my first jobs and being polite got you nowhere. Basically the only way you were getting inside that house to pitch those books was to simultaneously show them your card , say "Mind if I step in" and put one foot inside over the threshold before…
