Synopsis
After being discharged from the 372nd infantry, on account of a bean shortage, smithy seeks employment. He finds employment at a construction site, where he helps to build a house, and soon causes havoc amoungst other workers. The constuction company owner leaves for a week, and tells his secretary to send a letter to Mr. Smith telling him to complete the construction of the house while he (the owner) is away. The letter is accidently sent to Smithy who manages to complete the house. When the…

Due to the world fame of 'Laurel & Hardy' films, Stan Laurel's solo films have a been sorely neglected. Despite German titles and organ accompaniment which ignores completely what is happening on the screen, this is one of the best. The 'roof-felt and ladder' sequence has to be one of the most hilarious creative silent comedy sequences on film! It really is time for a celebration of these solo Stan Laurel films fully restored...in one of the many film festivals around the world!
