Carrier Qualification of the F3H-2N (1957)

This a pleasant little film about carrier tests of 4 new Jets in 1955. The A4D attack plane was in service by 1959 and was based at Moffat Field California for pilot training in Squadron VA125 in the big hangar along with VF124 which trained pilots for the F8U Crusader, both were part of Carrier Air Group 12 which trained pilots up and down the West Coast. I participated in many of these tests as a crew member of VF124, at NAS Moffat Field, aboard various carriers including the U.S.S. Ticonderoga and many others, and at the NAF Fallon Nevada gunnery range and for me it was all great fun…
