This is an interesting and rare clip, though it has been seen before, I believe. I checked with the man who knows more about CLEOPATRA (1917) than anyone else in the world: historian Philip Dye. He has assembled every known still photo, showing every known costume from the film. Philip says this clip is from THE QUEEN OF SHEBA (1921). This SHOULD have been a Theda Bara film, but Theda and Wm Fox fell out over money in 1919, and so Betty Blythe got to work with Theda's co-star from CLEO, and Theda's director. Not Theda Bara, as others have pointed out, and doesn't even remotely resemble her (as the photo of Theda Bara that has been inserted into this footage makes clear). Just an excerpt from a Betty Blythe film that is not lost. Is there a process for getting something like this removed from the site, or at least correctly identified?
