Much better than the other reviewers would lead one to believe. I found this movie thoroughly entertaining. It's certainly much better than all the propaganda-filled garbage coming out of hollywood these days. And for those who can pay attention to dialogue and are bright enough to understand subtext, there are a few little tells allowing the astute viewer to solve the crime for themselves and work out who the conspirators are before the actual reveal!

The people here who are criticizing BetsyBooth should read what she actually said rather than what in their careless haste they *think* she said. Her observation was the very simple truth that movies in the public domain tend not to be subjected to restoration, because the huge costs of that process may not be earned back if there are lots of free or nearly free versions of that same movie available. She did *not* say the movies were lousy; she said exactly the opposite -- that it's a pity many of them won't get the restoration they deserve so we might see them in their original glory. Nor…

Should you really take that chance though? I am not proud to admit that I watched the entire film. Tom Neal is utterly clueless in his role as reporter Jim Riley. Martha Tilton is even worse as the love interest, Betty. During the scene where he told her he loved her, the lack of acting ability was painfully apparent. Embarrassingly so. This film is not without merit. It does include a young looking Sheldon Leonard in the role of Captain Ferrone. If you were thinking this film might be worth the time to watch, accept the fact that you were wrong and find a better film. If you are as I was…
