The program begins with the reminders that remain of the Normandy landings. Children often play on what remains from the war that’s still on the beaches. The Normandy landings occurred on June 6, 1944, which is also known as D-Day. The invasion was the largest seaborne invasion. The operation itself was known as Operation Overlord. Soldiers are shown being trained specifically on England’s beaches to practice invading the coast prior to the invasion.
