Most marvel at how close formation fliers go about their maneuvers, but what everyday drivers on the road are required to do are much the same in needing to know where other vehicles on the road within close proximity are. But while a precision flyer knows what his fellow formation fliers beside him are going to do, a driver on the road may not know the driver in the cars close to him, and can only go by the rules of the road to guide him. In this early Jam Handy short produced for Chevrolet, drivers are admonished to steadily observe oncoming traffic in all directions so that easily preventable collisions can be averted. As a fleet of military aircraft soar in concert at the beginning of the film, the narrator states that the pilots operating the planes require a diligent eye in order to remain in perfect alignment with their colleagues, and that drivers on the ground must act similarly by adopting an "airplane view" that will allow them to effectively monitor all areas of the road and remain a reasonable distance away from…

Defensive and smart driving is shown here with somewhat boring results. The seemingly clever Jem Handy practice of showing vehicle trickery (see 'Around The Corner' ) before the actual show to distract the audience is used here, this time with airplane formations. The same formations are then weakly explained with automobiles. But all it is is a crsh course in driving safer. Not too exciting.
