We see the STREAMLINER City of San Francisco departing the now defunct 16th ST. station (wrecked in the 1989 Loma Prieta Quake. There's the duck pond at Lake Merritt near Bellevue Ave the elegant art deco apartment house in the background is stiil there. There the boys are in a shiny looks like new 37' Ford convertible. We see the boys screwing arounf with a light plane at Oakland Airport. The road in front of the airport is called Earhart Road after the legendary female aviator who departed from there in 1937 never to be seen or heard of again. This was shot about that time. I just noticed that archive.org allows people to post inane comments with these videos. These idiotic remarks add nothing to the video or its history. This video shows some spots in Oakland that are still recognizable. The fashion, automobiles, and aircraft shown in the video give a real-life look at how wealthier people lived at the time — not a Hollywood portrayal. I like how one young man does a vaudevillian-type strangling gag — I'm pleased that he thought of doing that during a period when there were so few cameras.
