I'm not quite sure why some previous posters felt it necessary to poke fun at a film that espouses limited government serving the people, instead of the people serving big government. They must not know anyone who has lived in a Totalitarian society and hated the lack of freedom and prosperity. The film makes an excellent point regarding the family farmer. From just what he produces on his land, he has to pay for the maintenance and replacement of all his tools, set aside money for lean years, have enough money to live on during the current year, plus pay taxes. Sexual and social inequalities…

It does seem that many comments on these old films are from Communist sympathizers. It is a pity that they do not see the films in the true light of limited GUVMINT. Slow incrementalism of trashing the Constitution by a rapidly expanding GUVMINT since the '60's has blind-sighted the aforementioned "Commie" sympathizers. This is one of those right-wing screeds from the 50s about how those sneaky commies are stealing our freedom! You'd think that since the cold war ended (NEWS BULLETIN: WE WON!!!!!) this sort of palaver wouldn't have much resonance anymore. But as some of the reviews suggest this kind of malarky still has some fans. Most of them probably love Sarah Palin----like speaking to like, as it were. A mildly intersting and quite unintentionally funny period piece.

The description of this film is: How a limited government and private control over labor, resources and tools can stave off a Communist takeover of the U.S. Limiting government and handing elements of the public trust over to private (i.e. corporate) control did stave off a Communist takeover. How's that working for you?
