This was a surprisingly good movie for me. Not a "fan" of the "confederate revisionist" movement. Traitors pure and simple in my view but I digress. Was GREAT to see Will Rogers, though his homilies were at a minimum. His folksey persona takes center stage here. The courtroom scenes were by far the best. A charming post-civil war period piece. Makes me wish I could find myself in a belle dress the size of a house with a hat just as big, fan in hand deep in the "Old South" having a Mint Julep with the Judge on the veranda amongst the weeping Willows and Spanish Moss. I found the items/people in the background as intriguing if not more so than what what was happening in the foreground. Love the old clothes and other accouterments. Really just enchanting and a must watch for a civil war/restoration fan.
