Synopsis
Keeper of the Bees is a 1935 American film directed by Christy Cabanne. The film depicts WWI veteran Jamie McFarland and his search for meaning in his last six months to live, and Molly Campbell, a young woman looking to save her sister's child from being left alone. It also features Emma Dunn as Margaret Campbell, Molly's charming mother and Edith Fellows as Jean-Marie "Little Scout", an adventurous young girl trying to fit in with her male friends.

This one does move very easily along and you never really expect the side plots that just sort of sprout like wild flowers in spring. The ending is so utterly surprising, but yet so very subtle. You'll be very pleased to have watched this one when you do and your heart stings will be tightened to the snapping point without ever stretching out of place. An exceptional film. The script and the lead, Neil Hamilton, are both first rate. The film moves right along from the first scene, which is a great one that sets the pace, the problem and introduces what will be the constant good humor of the film. In the telling, nothing is over-drawn but nothing is missed either. It's well balanced and as easy and harmless as falling off a log. The story does leave quickly, but all's been said. Neil Hamilton certainly shines throughout. A little noise in audio, but I shouldn't even mention it. This film will carry you along pleasantly.

If you are a romantic you will easily enjoy this movie. It's dialogue carries the viewer like a meandering stream. It made me feel as if I were watching a Hallmark special, and at end could turn off the TV satisfied.

It's an enjoyable film, but disappointing for me because it's so far off from the book. James character is totally different than what was written. That alone made it difficult. Other than that, it's a pleasure to watch.
