1960's Television: ''Ozzie and Harriet'' (1962)

Ozzie and Harriet is a terrific series, but these later episodes with the boys' wives are pretty weak compared to the earlier ones. Kris and June were a drag on the core that was the source of the show's humor and longevity. Still, an amusing show and certainly better than anything that is passed off as "situation comedy" today.

Ozzie and Harriet became stars of their own radio show after meeting through musical acts they produced. The radio show was produced, variably, from 1944-1954, garnering over 400 episodes. ABC, which aired the radio show for the majority of its run, looked for talent like Ozzie and Harriet to help cement their status beyond that of a fledgling network. ABC signed a 10 year contract to ensure the Nelsons wouldn't move to the bigger networks.
