A favorite of mine since I read Clarence's Day,"Life with Father". Any chance of getting the companion piece to this "Cheaper by the Dozen"? btw the film of Gilbarth's studies on efficency are in IA. Very cut and dry but of an historical interest.

I saw this movie as a preview on turner classic movies....I missed it, but I finally got to see this movie....I love family movies and this is one of them.....Tyrone Powell as the father is hilarious...and Irene Dunne as the movie she is such a great actress. Mr. Powell has always been the comedian in his movies..The thin man series.I love old movies and I this movie I can watch over and over again.

In her time, Irene Dunne was the queen of Hollywood. This isn't her best film, but it shows part of her comedic range. Highly recommend checking her out (elsewhere) in "I Remember Mama," in which she's brilliant. Irene plus some cute moments and I'm already at four stars. :-)

As others have said the quality is poor but it’s a charming film every one of the cast is good. I can never resist William Powell and he doesn’t disappoint here. Elizabeth Taylor has a small part but third billing.

Yeah. I will admit that this film was well made. The editing, the acting, all of that was good. But, this is one of my mother's favorite movies. She enjoyed it so much that over the last 25+ years, my mother has used all of the jokes from this film... in real life. And she's used them many, many times. So when I finally saw the movie, it didn't make me laugh because well, I had already heard the jokes many times before. So, thanks mom!

This film is like the National Lampoon issue that parodied some Valley Stream types in the mid 70's, but it was successful at what it did. This film kind of misses for me. This film makes allusion to at least 2 wealthy magnate families of that era. It is interesting to watch for those both esoterically involved and those from without, not because the cast portrays their parts so well as captioned above but because it is supposedly about these ultra rich families. Its gossip on film, stories of the rich and famous. JP Morgan, who wore spats, so does Powell in this film, and whose charicatures…
