Synopsis
The film follows the life of Napoleon from his early life in Corsica to his death at Saint Helena. The film is notable for its use of location shooting for numerous scenes, especially at the French estates of Malmaison and Fontainebleau, the Palace of Versailles, and sites of Napoleonic battles including Austerlitz and Waterloo.

This appears to be a very accurate presentation of the life of Napoleon, but told from a slightly bemused perspective, recognizing that like him or not, Napoleon and the events of his life are an historic fact. This film is worth watching, at least for entertainment if not for a lesson in history, even if you agree with the woman in the beginning who states "At no time did I ever like Napoleon". The inclusion of this woman indicates that the film presents a fairly balanced view of Napoleon. This is in ENGLISH, although it says it is a French film, because it was dubbed in 1955. I wouldn't…

...the best of all "Napoleon" historic movies I have seen. Actually, my favorite. The sequence, chain of events and general cinema technique followed by Sacha Guitry is excellent. A classic.
