Synopsis
Jeffrey Haywood wants to marry to Virginia Embrey. However, Virginia refused to marry unless her older sister, the hard-to-please Angelica gets married first. Angelica, in turn, finds every man she knows too dull and predictable, and for this reason prefers to stay single. Jeff then tries to make Angelica interested in the mild-mannered and timid Reggie Irving passing him off as a notorious playboy to intrigue her. He asks his friend Polly to teach Reggie "how to treat a woman right", but he…

This may not be Keaton's best work, but it is worth watching. Some of it is genuinely funny -- especially the scenes with Charlotte Greenwood. It leaves a residual feeling of sadness that Buster couldn't be left alone to do what he does well and gives the sense that had he been, he could have continued into the sound era with a great deal more wonderful work. As it is, this one should be enjoyed on its own terms, a little silly farce with a few great comic moments from Keaton interspersed. Keaton is charming and very watchable as always, even if he doesn't get to truly shine his light.

Recommended. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I was laughing literally so hard there were tears in my eyes, especially that scene at the hotel front desk. Is this on DVD? They'd be wise to release a restored version. I want it!

As stated before,a silly farce,but still a joy to see the best.Notwithstanding the long and tedious “review “ preceding,this is an enjoyable movie.Not to compare with the silent classics it does make one pine for them and realize that sometimes the advent of the “talkies” really was the end of a great era in movies.

All the other reviewers must be die-hard Keaton fans or have an easily - very easily - stimulated sense of humor. As amyjane described it - "...a silly little farce...." This would have made a decent short. Buster Keaton, with his usual deadpan face, negative IQ and naivete beyond words regarding women and almost anything else, plays Reginald Irving, a sign poster.
