Synopsis
Uses time-lapse photography to show the physical power of plants in their efforts to receive sunlight and fulfill their growth. Experiments show how plant fiber can hold more weight than copper wire; tendrils can support a plant vertically and seedlings can move barriers laid on top of them. Demonstrates how a plant draws water up from the ground. Germinating peas break out of a glass jar, while a parasitic plant can overwhelm another. Endlessly fascinating film of something i've never actually thought about. How powerful plants really are, when you stop and think about it. Film uses plenty of demonstrations to show how strong plant stems are, and how they'll push everything out of the way just to grow, grow, grow! Just really well done. One of the best Kieran Kaleidescope movies ever made and is a must see on this site!

Some fascinating time lapse photography seen here. I particularly enjoyed seeing the plants push the glass plate. I don't know if anyone on here finds this interesting, but this U.S. series was also shown here in Australia, where it aired on stations HSV-7 in Melbourne and TCN-9 in Sydney starting in 1956.
