Remember, folks, there is a right and a wrong way to sleep. David, the Gallant of sleep, goes to bed early, follows a neat and tidy routine for going to bed, goes right to sleep, and wakes up before his alarm clock goes off. He has breakfast with his nice, respectable middle class family, has a good day at school, and everybody likes him. While, George, the Goofus of sleep, stays up late to listen to a radio program, has no habits, lies awake in bed for a long time before going to sleep, and has to be rousted out of bed in the morning by his mom. We all have habits, says narrator Ken Nordine, such as dad wearing a tie while reading a newspaper in his chair and mom wearing pearls. This sets us up for the narration telling us to have good sleeping habits, though David-with-the-high-voice somehow sleeps over a loudly-ticking alarm clock. David dreams, but doesn't dream big. He's piloting a teeny toy airplane that he repairs in mid-air. "Dreams don't seem to make much sense, do they?" observes Nordine. Half-way through the film and it's morning. Parents make kids go to bed. Kids'll never do it on their own. Kids under 10 should get 9 or 10 hours a night, minimum, under age 7, 10 - 11 hours. Performance in elementary school has been shown to be directly related to how many hours of lights out they get. I get really torqued off when I see trailer park trash hauling young kids around at 10PM on a school night. Those kids will struggle just because the parents are dopes. After 13 or 14 some kids will naturally sack out for 12 hours if they can. In college my roomies and me sometimes on Saturday slept over 12 hours. We'd sometimes get up…
