This short film was released by the RCA Victor record label in 1956 to demonstrate to the American public just how they managed to produce 250 000 vinyl records a day, using a painstaking process, and all in pursuit of creating the ultimate "illusion" of live musical performance.

A nice accompiment to 'In Living Stereo' where it told of how 78's are made, 'The Sound And The Story' teaches us how vinyl records are made. This is done by going step by step, by first showing us a recording being done of 'Romeo And Juliet' by the Boston Symphony, to the taping of it, a master being made, to dupes of the master, a mold, and then finally, the dupes of the mold. All of this is explained in a suprisingly easy and interesting way, since I've never been told how records are made.
