This episode is a farce. Instead of using real evidence such as fingerprints or crime scene photographs the results of a lie detector test would become the primary means of convicting or freeing criminals. Hypnosis not only will allow us to beat the test but also will end crime by post hypnotic suggestions not to commit any more crimes?

Hence, that's why this is called Speculative Fiction. What if...? Some of these stories make more sense than others, that's for sure. In this piece, the writer took a rather flimsy "what if" situation and built a story around it. But there are so many loose ends that it's not so much the hypnosis-lie detector angle that rings false, it's everything leading up to and beyond that idea that is a little loosey-goosey. I love the idea that criminals won't be punished anymore because they won't be capable of committing further crimes. If I'm correct, they're punished for what they've *done*, not…
