This old movie is a treat for every Joan Greenwood fan across the globe. She looks very girlish here but at 22 years of age did a splendid job playing one of the seven heroines. As for the film itself, it's rare and interesting as a women vehicle, the (military) women are the focus here, so that makes it original and worthy of attention. If you can put aside some dated stereotypes and misconceptions they used to have back then, which have been fortunately shed since (like labeling women 'weaker sex' or 'fair sex' or titular 'gentle sex' among other things), then this could be a pretty…

An interesting film evoking war-time Britain featuring British actresses including Jean Gillie of noir 'Decoy' fame, and also Lilli Palmer. Principally a tribute to women 'doing their bit', including manning anti-aircraft batteries and truck driving, it also covers their personal relationships. A pleasant hour and thirty minutes.
