This British police detective-style murder mystery left me feeling very unsatisfied and vaguely angry. Other than dismissing the motivation of the bad guy as pure madness, the movie provides no reason as to why he commits the crime that begins his spree. I suppose it's possible his own guilty conscious drove him mad. He behaves rationally after this crime. The murders he commits make sense. Also inexplicable is why the movie starts with British soldiers fighting the Japanese in 1946 Burma. 1946? Japan wasn't fighting anywhere in 1946. Other than these gripes, the screenplay, acting and pacing…
