Synopsis
In this dark comedy, a Yankee goes to visit a family of British eccentrics to ask for the hand of one of their daughters in marriage. He soon finds himself in the midst of a really odd family. One of them talks like Bela Lugosi, another believes herself to be a vampire, while a third is locked away in a padded cell. Another family member is thrilled when he finally invents a horseless carriage (50 years after Ford), and the family grandfather is found reading Playboy just before he dies.…

The BBC's original "Man in Black" who also played "The Black Archon" opposite Tom Baker's 4th Doctor. The gatekeeper of Hill House(in THE HAUNTING) and confident of Elizabeth Selwyn in CITY OF THE DEAD (1960) plays Reginald Marley in this third remake of J. B. Priestley's horror comedy novel THE OLD DARK HOUSE (aka BENIGHTED). Andree Melly who also appeared in Hammer's BRIDES OF DRACULA opposite Peter Cushing plays Natalia with a Barbara Steele panache that only adds to the fun.
