Synopsis
Torture Ship is a 1939 American science fiction horror film directed by Victor Halperin, based on Jack London's 1899 short story "A Thousand Deaths". The film stars Lyle Talbot as a mad scientist who performs experiments regarding "the criminal mind" on captured criminals onboard his private ship.

this movie has about 1 second of drama in 48 minutes of a plot that has some real possibilities. if you choose to watch it- you will be used.

Watching this movie from the beginning actually feels as if one walked into the show in the middle. The random mayhem of taking one person after another to be a guinea pig for experimentation is ludicrous and the only realistic event was of a portion of the passengers planning mutiny; perhaps to throwing the script writer of this event off the ship. It's disturbing to think that this movie was actually based on a Jack London novel. Well worth watching if one likes pain and suffering.
