I really enjoyed this short, feel good movie. I watched it because I am a fan of Gale Storm, but I enjoyed the rest of the cast as well. It may be a little corny but corny is better than trash, which is what you get in a lot of today's movies.

If you're in need of a dose of concentrated goodness and sweetness, this movie is just what the doctor ordered. The good country folks win and the bad city folks are chased off ... but even the bad guys (banker, modern artist) aren't really all that bad. Agree with other commenters on the incongruity of period. Feels like 1936, and none of the cars or radios are newer than 1936. But the hairstyles are definitely '41, so it was most likely made then.

Zasu Pitts (she pronounced it "Say-zoo") plays the same character beloved of audiences for decades. However, she also was a fine actor who occasionally was given the chance to prove it. Gale Storm is also delightful here as the young girl visiting the country and her peculiar Uncle Joe. Not really a single character here to dislike. Even the banker trying to foreclose on Zasu gets twisted around by her character's logical twists and turns. A very relaxing and enjoyable hour!

Had i known who Zasu was 28 years ago my daughter would have grown up with the name Zasu Pitts [My last name]. Instead her brother and friends have teased her endlessly with the moniker of Tuna Fish after he name Tina.. Lucky kid eh? I like Joe too, but his inventions were kind of stupid..the epitome of laziness, but entertaining anyway.

What a corny movie! Zasu Pitts was in it, but her part was kind of small and she didn't really put on her famous comedy style that we all admire so... I have to say it was a nice enough movie, perfect for its time. Actually it seemed more like a 1930s movie, not a 1941 movie. It didn't have that sort of chilling "we're at war but we're still having fun" ambiance that many movies released in 1941 had, more of the "we're simple folk and we don't need your high-falutin' artists and rich folk", a theme of the 1930s. That actually adds to its pleasantness, especially for the time it was released.…
