They sure don't make 'em like they used to, and here's where you'll find out why. OUTSTANDING footage of home construction at mid-20th century. The first two things to notice about home building is a) how much hardwood was used, and b) how many people were employed. It's interesting to see an entire house being sheathed in heavy planks instead of Celotex, and to watch men using hammers instead of nail guns. I watched movies like these in school. If the teacher was knowledgeable about the topic, finer details could be discussed and understood. Pay attention. No one has a smart phone. Silly safety measures such as eye, ear and respiratory protection do not slow the worker. He can get more done, before his smoke break. I bet they told bawdy jokes and ate diets rich with lard. The good old days.
