These travelogues were very popular in movie theaters for many years. This is how we used to get our introductions to the peoples of the world. These short but wonderful films are well done and narrated by truly gifted voices. I am fortunate to be old enough to have seen many of them at the movies. I miss them.

Well... not really. 1935 in America was during the height of the Great Depression. I don't know how well Australia made it through the decade but I know Great Brittan was also hard hit. I find it interesting that it wasn't mentioned at all in the film.

yes thanks, appreciated. More if you have them would also be appreciated. Not much of a show - a disjointed stringing together of newsreel footage - but interesting all the same for what newsreel coverage though was important in any given year, ranging from the incredibly trivial to the incredibly symbolic. Great source of tasty images of Oz and funny how theatrical footage became fodder for television. Shades of Newsfront!
