Synopsis
Anna Christie (English-language version, 1930) is a landmark early sound drama produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and directed by Clarence Brown, based on the 1921 play by Eugene O’Neill. The film stars Greta Garbo in her first full talking role, an event heavily promoted at the time with the famous tagline, “Garbo Talks!” Set among sailors, barges, and waterfront taverns, the story follows Anna, a guarded young woman with a troubled past who reunites with her estranged father, a hardened sailor.…
