Nice ad for reminiscing. Had the Aurora powered HO slot cars back in the day. Loved them. One time we walked over to West Hempstead (L.I. ,NY ) where the factory was and pulled a bunch of track sections out of the trash. They had some imperfections but were still usable. Still have a larger slot car and controller.

Anyone who believes Speedline and J.L. 'sucked' is simply wrong. I grew up racing all 3. J.L. had FAST cars. Many would SMOKE Hot Wheels - plain and simple. Auroras were simply too delicate to crash into anything, but the colors and finishes were really nice... Quality control was bad on all 3 - yes Hot Wheels too. Got many a bad casting and bad paint job on hot wheels, and the early style of axels were horrible on Hot wheels. Had just as many with the white hubs stuck in the wheels as i did with J.L.'s - which had same issue. If you wanted REAL quality - you had to buy Tomy (Tomica) Pocket…

Fun little commercial, with some nice close-up cinematography, making the cars look as close to the real thing as possible. There's a very strange moment where one boy shouts "Look at the box!" followed by an endless pause. OK, what about it?
