What the Enturbulator writes is true of every film ever made. In all of the early ones, some characters/actors/scenes were black, while others were white. Later, some new photographic processes were invented-- at which time, films became all about... color... Post-Hays code, the Fleischers needed to find some new friends for Betty (since Bimbo was out), and some new directions for her to take. Some B. not really featuring betty, pretty much just a big cat and dog chase. but somehow, still entertaining. nothing special though.

This film uses thinly disguised cartoon representations of the parties to the race struggle in the USA per 1930-something. The Black Cat (and his cohorts)eventually act more like monkeys, and the White Dog as a somewhat naive, ineffectual boob motivated by the protection of peace in Betty Boops urban bedroom, from which the Blacks are excluded. The nighttime wailing of the Blacks disturbs Betty, she can't sleep. White Dog can ignore it all, until Betty uses the word, "Cat" to which Dog is apparently hard-wired to recognise even in deep sleep. He is overwhelmed by Gangs of Blacks eventually.…
