Synopsis

An Episcopal Bishop, Henry Brougham, has been working for months on the plans for an elaborate new cathedral which he hopes will be paid for primarily by a wealthy, stubborn widow. He is losing sight of his family and of why he became a churchman in the first place. Enter Dudley, an angel sent to help him. Dudley does help everyone he meets, but not necessarily in the way they would have preferred. With the exception of Henry, everyone loves him, but Henry begins to believe that Dudley is there…

Hello, Mr. Fergus Today was the 1st day I could watch this beautiful film. Although watching it over the years [in black & white] was enjoyable - today, watching your colorized version has left me totally in tears. I am still sobbing as I write this. Your colorization brought these wonderful actors to life for me. I don't know how much more I need to say. This film came alive for me. . . thanks to you.

I happened to watch this movie on the Christmas Day, 12/25/25. Such a dramatic and suspense filled but not overly unrealistic portrayal of the beautiful meaning of Christmas that should focus on caring for the poor, the stranger and the most vulnerable. The wrong focus on the ambition of building a big cathedral is shattered by the intervention of the Angel Dudley and he bring the best out of all the characters The real spirit and joy of Christmas is brought forward by this movie. The Tittle is quite intriguing for such a plot
