Synopsis
War heroes Rip Murdock and Johnny Drake are sent to Washington, D.C, to receive top honors for their service. Johnny, seemingly terrified by the publicity that awaits him, jumps off the train and later turns up dead. Suspecting foul play, Rip begins digging into his pal's past. He encounters cover-ups, threats to his own life and deadly femme fatale Coral Chandler.

How Bogey could have faked his way through this “kennel gem” with Lizabeth Scott, “The Queen of Nausea Noir,” is beyond me. They could have used a store mannequin and saved some money.

One of my favorite film noir movies. Regardless of what is said about Lizabeth Scott (tho still young in movies at the time) I thought she was good in her part. The main thing that I found a flaw in the movie was Bogart putting Louie's body in her car when he first met her. How did he know her car and how could he get the body in the car without others seeing him? He met her at the hotel where they were supposed to meet and assuming she was parked there. This is what film noir was all about. It was loopholes unanswered.
