Kudos to the weirdo who thought a fuzz-guitar soundtrack was appropriate for a film about blowing up stuff. Which, as another reviewer put it, is the very BASIS. of our civilization. and oh, yeah, isn't that little girl the same little girl from both "Willy Wonka" and "dark shadows"? Blow me up if i am wrong.

This 70s film asserts that we owe everything good in our modern society entirelynot to railroads, not to aluminum, not to crop spraying, not even to truck farmersbut to blowing things up, a sentiment every boy will agree with. Unfortunately, they dont really get around to blowing things up real good until the end of the film. Until then, we get lots of scenes of construction projects in Manhattan, the Grand Coulee Dam, and the Panama Canal, with a scene of a very 70s housewife and her little girl baking a pie in a very 70s kitchen thrown in for good measure. Alright exploration I guess about how explosions are done and what value they serve (eg they blow up the ground real good). Problem is, this film lacks the punch, excuse the punch, until the very end until they set off the explosions. Until then, you¡¯re left to hear about safety, how the explosives are stored, and so on. But I sort of liked the chain reaction of items in the middle. Everything, from potato peelers to the dish rack, you can all thank explosives for giving them to you! Sort of ridiculous actually.
