Fresh From Paris (1955)

By today's trash media standards, this films flops. For it's time it was A+ in the glitzy make-believe department. If it was in color, everything would be pink and turquoise. No sex, dope, or murder. Just a cute little dress-up with Martha Hyer in a fab Italian cut hair-do, Forrest Tucker as a not too believable romantic lead, and Margaret Whiting, stylish and typically 1950's songstress. In addition, It has great dance numbers. Don't quite get the circus act. I liked it. I'll watch it again.

It is pleasant light entertainment. It presents nearly all of a musical show at an expensive night club restuarant in hollywood in 1955.This film proves that nostalgia is often disappointing.

This is a bit of a hard musical film to like. Essentially it follows the opening night of a musical spectacular in a (actual) restaurant called the Moulin Rouge. The lead actress is essentially there because sheÂs in love with the director, but heÂs off seeing the art director on the side. Meanwhile, the lead actressÂs kid sister is looking for her big break too. When the lead actress finds out about her philandering boyfriend, will this be her chance? Filled with a Âwho cares? story and somewhat boring production values, (although the Âcircus ending was a bit inspired.. End the show with…
