Showing the latest cutting edge technology, this film covers many of the functions needed to make, place and power up new coaxial cable to be used for long distance by the Bell System. Scenes include cable being plowed, splicing the cable and placing/wiping the lead sleeve, manufacture of the coaxial cable and what a repeater looked like back then. Also a simplistic explanation on how a carrier system worked, something that was used extensively for many years. There are some copper fed carrier systems still in use today.
