Twisted as this hypnosis video may be, the soundtrack is mesmerizing. Sounds like the film threading through the projector with a sort of techno underlayment. Very bizarre.

Silent hypnosis film done in the late 1930s or early 1940s based upon the Life magazine given to the subject, probably filmed at the University of Oregon in Eugene. This film consists of a pretty female subject, framed by a medium shot, responding to hypnosis and post-hypnotic suggestion. Some of the parts seemed faked, such as the subject nodding yes to the question "Are you sound asleep?", but the legitmacy is hard to tell. What is a bit odd about this film is the use of title cards for the hypnotists suggestions. Somehow, I'd see the sequence of counting one to five and then "Wake up!"…
★★★★ · Wait a minute.. Life Magazine IS Depressing and Amusing! · Spuzz · 2005-03-05
Another hypnosis short. Quite interesting in the fact that it's silent, and somewhat less convincing because of it. A single fat faced girl goes under (somewhat way too fast and easily it seems) and then is put through some ultra-bizarre experiments. "Your Arm is very stiff!" "You are becoming blind!" (very funny!) "I'm going to touch your hand with a red hot instrument!" (actually it isn't, it's just perception! Pretty clever!) Pretty ultra strange, and is reccomended!
★★★★ · Life Magazine Cover Date · draki · 2010-05-29
The life Magazine shown in this clip is from March 22, 1937. The Irving Air Chute Company was the cover story for the March 22, 1937 Life Magazine. The seven-page story featured photos of parachutists using the chute as well as the rubber dummy (cover photo) utilized for testing each parachute.
