Synopsis

A young French boy and his dog Clown romp happily through the streets, until one day the boy stops to play cards with friends in a park. After the game, Clown is seen running off. The little boy searches the streets for his beloved pet. Along with Larry Yust's 'Lottery', 'Clown' was possibly one of the two best selling ed films ever made. On the surface, it's a cute kid & dog story. Underlying is a possible subtext that fascinates us every time we view the film, and makes for a satisfying, yet…

I watched this movie over 20 years ago in grade school and I have never forgotten it. I have finally found it again and it is just as wonderful as it was when I was a child. A magnificent story and theme that caught my imagination and tugged my heart strings.

After seeing this film at the age of 6 - I was both sad and uplifted. It is a beautiful story of a human heart in pain and also learning and understanding. It does seem that others who have had the similar story of seeing it at a young age - felt the same compassion for it. I was in tears at the age of 48 again and the feeling of sadness - but it was emotion which made me once again realize that our human hearts are touched by lessons.
