Synopsis

This is a gem of a film. It had me cheering for the fugitive (a victim of circumstances) and Scotland Yard’s Inspectors at the same time. The woman, who unexpectedly became the Man on the Run’s protectress, was extremely convincing. Lawrence Harvey also appeared in an uncharacteristic role as a detective sergeant instead of in one of his signature criminal roles. A well written script that didn’t go overboard with violence, but instead stuck to a methodical and cerebral approach of good hard police work. Nobody was cut any slack either. Excellent British Noir. Laurence Harvey, in a very early movie role, got 4th billing and played a very stiff cop from Scotland Yard.
