Interesting hybrid of Atomic scare film with Daddy-O lingo interspersed in. We at first view the aftereffects of Hiroshima, then in a clever twist, the film breaks! Ah, but it's a movie within a movie, something we don't see a lot in Prelinger land. While the projectionist fixes it, the team leader or whoever this guy was, lays it in to the 3 guys assembled for the film (and why were they there in the first place?). A GREAT dialogue takes place of what happens when "the egg" might fall, ("That would be some omelette!") (Curiously, there's a lot of fowl mentions in this movie too ("Your goose…

The blurb for this movie is slightly wrong; there is only one solidier (a Master Sergeant). The new recruits in the movie represent the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps (I guess the Coast Guard couldn't make it). A more likeable cast than I've seen in civilian civil defense movies. Features some very impressive (for the time) special effects involving actual US atomic test footage edited into a tabletop model of a coastal city. lots of bonhomie guy talk. Meant for an audience of servicemen, I would imagine. Someone noted that this film has a reference to and depicts briefly a cartoon character named "Evil Eye Fleegle." Well, I googled him, and it turns out he was a villain in the comic strip L'il Abner. Anyway, they spent some money on this film. They have a neat little tabletop model of a city, too.

Just use your head and you have good chances to survive an A-bomb attack. Yeah, right. Anyway, the film is a good depiction of the thinking at the time of its making. And such good punch lines:"Just the right spot for the enemy to lay an egg... an atomic egg! What an omelette that would make!" Hilarious... You're killing me... Something wrong with the MPEG1-version. MPEG4-256 worked OK.
