Synopsis
Shows the source, structure, and movements of a typical Alpine glacier; the relationship of climate to the seasonal cycle of ice accumulation and melt-water run-off; and the effect of glaciation upon the land. Uses maps and diagrams to show the locations of glaciers and how they were formed. Views of Knik Glacier in Alaska are used to illustrate cycles of ice accumulation and depletion; compares these phenomena with similar phenomena which are probably characteristic of the ice age
