Roamin' Wild (1936)

A really decent mid 1930's western. Tom Tyler, only a fair lead actor, does well enough as a lawman as he brings justice to a community. The plot is better than I expected, progresses nicely, and has a satisfactory conclusion. The Chinese actors in their roles are treated in a respectful manner with the avoidance of stereotypes. Good scenery - large boulders to climb - riding horses - being chased - pursuing others on horseback - fights - shooting - no real surprises, but again, a decent western for the time.

Good quality upload, good quality film. The use of several ethnic characters in supporting/minor roles makes for an interesting change. Although a bit stereotpyical by today's standards, they aren't bad for the era and help make the film a bit more interesting than the average "b" western. It's very much worth a watch. At 57 minutes you've got little to lose. BTW, I wonder if any of the cast and crew ever imagined we would be watching their work 77 years later?

Your average B western in most ways with adequate plot, script and acting - with a few interesting aspects. There is a peddler - evidently a European Jew - with a name like Wineman and and his Yiddish accent - what else? - well, he may not have been Jewish, as that's never stated. And we have a contingent of Chinese miners, played with dignity as opposed to the usual "no tickee, no washee" portrayal.
