Synopsis
At Bell's persuasion, Toby becomes Dr. Reynold's driver. Grateful for all she has done for him, Kunta is drawn to Bell and marries her. A meeting with an African drummer rekindles his dreams of escape. The drummer is working out a plan and will beat a message when ready. Bell gives birth to a daughter named Kizzy. During the Mandinka ceremony with the newborn, the drummer signals. But Kunta, obligated now to his family, does not respond. Instead, as the drum beats in the distance, he recounts…
