Kenny Bowers (clarinet) and Tommy Dix (Winsoki) starred together (with Lucille Ball) in the film 'Best Foot Forward', after having also appeared in the Broadway show of the same name. Dix's voice was so powerful that many assumed that his performance of Winsoki in the film was dubbed by another singer. School House is the first proof I've seen that Tommy could indeed belt this tune out of the park and was clearly the original artist. Loved Bowers' clarinet harmony on the tune. But I like cheese. Most critics at the time panned this series quite harshly, but I like it. After all, it's fun. As usual, the magic of DuMont-TV makes it enjoyable. Recommended to all cheese fans.

If this is cheese, I say let us have more cheese. The people producing TV today could not achieve a program like this. Today, they have all the money, the ability to do retakes when actors goof lines and still they produce garbage. Live television consisted of having the producer hand you maybe a $5.00 bill and with that you had to come up with something. Your broadcast was live. If an actor goofed a Given the circumstances of television in those days, I respect what they managed to come up with. It takes more talent to make something with little than to have alot and come up with nothing.

Early american telebision program broadcast through DuMont Television network from January 18, 1949 to April 19, 1949. A vaudeville inspied variety show, it starred Kenny Delmar as a teacher, and his students included actors Arnold Stang, Wally Cox, and Buddy Hackett. Each of them displaying a particular talent such as dancing, or singing. It aired on Tuesdays at 9 for 30 minutes.
