Produced for Ford in 1964, this film showcases some of Ford's futuristic design concepts of the time. Includes some footage relating to the development of the Mustang. A well done piece and a must-see for any 60s Ford and early Mustang fans!

This somewhat neglected film is a fun romp when style baby, ruled over substance (or hey! Safety!), after a somewhat blah 1st half, where we follow a (creatively) animated voyage into automobile's history and how cars are made (using clay models again!) we then seague into the very interesting 2nd half, where we explore the cars of the future! The allegro looks all right, love the tilting steering wheel memory! But the car that will put you agog is the Aurora car, with it's wild headlight scheme, the tilting chairs, and the wild backseat couch thing, with a fridge and stove and radio! Groovy!…

Although I'm a bit too young to have lived during the time of the production of this piece, in watching it, I just get a feeling of quintessential 1960's cool from it. True, I was a bit suprized by the use of stills in this piece, I still felt it to be a really entertaining and very cool piece of film.

This is a film about design that focuses on the Mustang as an example, but mentions many concept cars. Its interesting to compare the film style to something like "American Look" (1958). What a difference six years makes! Where American Look is sweeping and grand, this film is done almost entirely from still shots - even the parts with live actors. This style, along with the music and drawing style give a much more harsh look. The topic is very interesting, but I found the style somewhat distracting.

Composed mainly of stills, this film tries to show how futuristic vision and stlye came to practical reality in the 1960's Ford Mustang without ever mentioning Lee Iacoca (although I think he appears in one of the stills). As examples of great style, we see the bloated 60's Thunderbird - a once elegant sports car expanded to overweight American marketing dimensions. I doubt the makers of this film realized the same fate awaited the Mustang by the early 1970's. Experimental car designs are displayed, most very impractical.
